Before we really start the journey, we would answer, “To get as much as I can, to experience as much pleasure as possible.” Once the journey starts and the heart is awakened, the answer takes us into ‘right relationships’.
This ‘why’ question searches for meaning in our life. The answer gives us meaning because it is about how we relate to others and the world around us. The real reason we are in incarnation is not an individual one, although it seems to appear that way. It always has something to do with others and the Love we share with others and the world around us.
Meaning is always about relationship. So the meaning of our individual life is tied to our relationships in life – the kind and quality of them. When we are not in relationship, there is no meaning. And it is Love that establishes relationship.
Whenever we say that we have a problem in our relationships, we are searching for meaning in the relationship and can’t find it. And the reason we can’t find it is because Love is lacking. We usually think that it is something else – but it is always about Love. Love is the only thing that gives meaning. And the lack of Love is always felt as some kind of problem or conflict.
