Self discipline delivers
“Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly.”
~ Julie Andrews ~
Hi everyone,
Last week we identified one program you could do over and over to continuously uncover
your authentic self: the Know Yourself workbook. But the workbook won't work for
you if you do not take the time to do it!
The word 'discipline' makes most of us shudder. We may sense we are being forced
to do something we don't want to do and that it will be hard. But isn't it true that
self discipline reflects our ongoing commitment to something valuable we want and
are giving ourselves?
If we seek personal change and growth, each of us must take our own initiative. I
often say, "If it is to be, it is up to me." Through discipline, we express our
personal commitment and willingness to persist to bring about positive results for
our lives.
Getting started can be the biggest hurdle in the growth process. If you seek
empowerment, then make the time to know yourself, however you choose to do that.
Our workbook is only one option. You could also use journaling, meditation, reading
inspirational works or any of the amazing variety of other tools available to us
these days.
Protecting a certain time each day helps build a good practice. Block off time
for you in your calendar. Set up triggers to remind you to reflect or write or rest
throughout the day.
The best lumberjack sharpens his axe many times each day. How often do you sharpen
your axe? How often do you plan your day, review your day, ask yourself a few smart
questions, relax, enjoy or focus on what is important to you?
Resolve to evolve. Take little steps to set the stage. What times during the day
and week are you ready to commit to becoming more of who you are? Support this intention
by setting up your journal, workbooks and space for your self-reflection.
All Higher Awareness programs have daily reminders to help you hold the course
and create positive change in your life.
Someone once said, "What chance can a man have to control his destiny when he
can't control himself?" Bring a little commitment to your own growth and you'll
prove how self-discipline delivers!

P.S. Next week, we'll share with you a simple formula for truly living life now!
“The discipline you have in your life should be one determined by your own desires and your own needs.”
~ Bertrand Russell ~
“Self-discipline is self-caring.”
~ M. Scott Peck ~
