'We Three' Journaling - Me, Myself and I
“Every story can be told in different ways.”
~ Peace Pilgrim ~
Hi everyone,
Sometimes I go to a restaurant by myself for a quality journaling session and when
I am asked by the hostess, "Table for how many?" I respond with, "A table for three
- for me, myself, and I!" Once she figures this out, I get my table for one.
Often when I journal, in my mind I call in wise caring individuals to give me ideas
and guidance. I can imagine my own ideal Board of Directors sitting at my table with
me, eager to share their perspectives.
Why don't you explore the power of this tool? Pick a question you want answered then
invite your own appropriate advisors - anyone you believe could offer you sound advice,
like Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Mother Theresa, your soul, even God. Pose the question
to your group and allow each participant to respond.
If you need to make a decision on some matter, here are two variations to play with:
-
Invite your female part and your male part to present their positions and then you get to make the final decision.
-
Pick someone who argues in favour of an action and someone who is opposed to it. Invite their perspectives and again you make the final decision.
This may seem absurd but you will be surprised how setting an intention to get
different points of view can bring up new ideas. Having an inner group of advisers
takes the pressure off of us. It's a sneaky way to free ourselves from our own mental
filters, biases and baggage.
Now you have a way of creating multiple perspectives and solutions for any situation.
Give a new identity or perspective to each of me, myself and I!
“The power of imagination makes us infinite.”
~ John Muir ~
“Imagine that you have the ability to see
the world with different eyes, whenever you choose. Each time you open your eyes,
you see the world around you in a different way.”
