They would have their arms outstretched embracing the past and holding on. Now you can own your past and know that you do not have to hold on any more. You can turn around and embrace the future.
Try using your imagination and create a mythological , symbolic story of healing the dragons of the past and finding the treasure, princess or white knight of the future. As you write a symbolic story or memoir, there is great healing and ownership. You can step back and laugh at life and own deeply your life lessons and future.
